We spent the summer in Narnia.
Well, not really...but we read through The Chronicles of Narnia as a family and it sure felt like we were there! I have a set that I got when I was Kate's age and lived in Thailand. We've been wanting to read it for some time now and were glad to finally dig in!

Kate made us a bookmark and off we went on our summer adventure!
My memory of reading the series was spotty at best, so it was as if I was reading for the first time. Josh read it aloud to the family every night before bed. C.S. Lewis is a master...what a joy to read someone who is such a gifted story-teller! More nights than not the kids would beg for "one more chapter, Dad!"
We read avidly all summer, and finished all seven books. Each one ended and we couldn't imagine we could like the next as well but like I said, C.S. Lewis is a master.
So many Gospel truths interwoven...great imagery...phenomenal character development...it was amazing.
We experienced the full range of emotions while reading...from laughter to tears. And through it all, we kept seeing glimpses of our Great God. I deeply appreciate the God-given talent for writing that C.S. Lewis has, and respect him so much for using it to glorify the One True God and draw others to Him in worship.
I'm so thankful we spent the summer reading these timeless classics.
