It's finally time to start Elon Co-op! Months ago, we began meeting with several dear friends and fellow homeschoolers and dreaming of doing a co-op. Our hope was to bring some of the aspects of community learning into play that you just cannot recreate in your home, and to do it with friends that we already know and love! So we brainstormed and worked hard and are now seeing the fruit of that labor! 8 families all together on Fridays at North Wake...Henkels, Joyners, Lyons, Martins, Meekins, Pendergrasses, Reeds and Woosleys...8 mamas and 24 kiddos (plus 3 babies...newborn Brooks and Joyner baby and Henkel baby in utero)!!
Melissa and Lori are doing preschool with the under 5 crowd while the K-4 rotate through 4 different classes (Geography with Stephanie Lyon, Communication with Stephanie Joyner, ASL with Carrie, and Science with Miranda). I'm in charge of Circle Time and Rachel is all hands on deck, filling in where needed.
I was sad to miss our first meeting...but what better reason than hanging out with this sweet baby love!! Brooks was 9 days old and I started the co-op on maternity leave : )
However, this crew was ready and raring to go!
Big hug for the BFFs
Sweet preschoolers : )
Gotta love the 'crazy' picture!
Laying of ground rules. Good way to start!
Making their passports in Geography...ready to travel the world this year!
Fun with "Ms. Science" as Miranda is now known by.
And of course, plenty of fun on the playground!
Looking forward to a GREAT year of learning!!
