Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Garrett

Josh, Kate, Carter and I got to go down to Vero Beach, FL for the weekend for Brandon and Emily's wedding! The countdown has been on for a while, so we were all excited that it was finally time to go! This is a picture Kate painted for Brandon and Emily the week before we were all traveling down.
It's to the 'G's' : )
First time for us on a plane with Kate and Carter (their 2nd time on a plane, 1st was last summer with Mom and Daria)

We flew into Orlando, and the kids thought it was SO cool
that they were 'greeted' by a huge Mickey Mouse in the airport!
We had about an hour and a half drive down to Vero from Orlando. We went straight to the bridesmaids luncheon. Kate and I had such a great time hanging out with this sweet group of girls. And, we got a sneak peek at Emily's dress!!
Can you see the stars in Kate's eyes?!?
They had asked Josh to do the wedding, and for Kate and Carter to be in it. So exciting! Heading into the rehearsal.
(I know I'm biased, but stop it. They could not be any handsomer.)
Practicing walking, slowly.

Emily (2nd from L) and her bridesmaids (minus 1). They were all so sweet, especially to Kate. She was soaking up every minute with the girls : )
The Garretts had rented a house on the beach and it was perfect for the rehearsal dinner.
Low country boil. Yum.

The weather was a little iffy, and we actually had a fairly big thunderstorm while we were all over at the church, but the skies began to clear shortly after we arrived at the house : )

The wedding day was absolutely gorgeous, and we went back over
to have brunch with the groomsmen. Look who was waiting to greet us when we arrived!
Carter became buddies with Emily's brother Sam.
Brandon gave Carter a compass, which was a really cool gift, especially because Kate and I had just learned about them in school that very week!
We couldn't be that close to the beach, with such amazing weather and not go out for a little bit! We didn't have much time, but we soaked up every minute!

Snuck in a quick game of foosball before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the big day!
Carter was not at all sure about this lady pinning anything on him, but after a minute or so he decided he was ok with it.
Carter loves 'Mr. Brandon Garrett'
He also made buddies with Brandon's brother Ben.

Finalizing the order of the ceremony and last minute details

Emily and her mom.
I love the way she's looking at her.
As a mom, I can only imagine what is going on in her heart at this moment...
Here we go!

The giving of the bride.
Now that we have daughters, this moment is pretty much guaranteed to bring us to tears. Josh held it together though, and I have no idea how he did because I was a mess!
I had sat up front just in case one of the kids decided to bail in the middle of the ceremony. They both hung in there the whole time, but...this was my view for most of it. So, couldn't really get any pictures but that's ok : ) Because I did have a perfect view of my little man.
Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Garrett!!!
First wedding ever officiated...success!!

Carter was a fan of the Coke and peanuts at the reception.
He was not a fan of Brandon's grooms cake.
Making friends at our table : )
First dance
Then, once the dance floor opened, Kate and Emily's friend Kami
went out and danced for the rest of the night.

Carter joined in eventually, and the shoes became a hindrance so they left them behind.
They had such a blast!!
When it was over, Kate came up to Josh and me and said
"We need to go to more weddings like this!"

What an absolute honor and privilege to be a part of such a special weekend. Josh and I met with Brandon and Emily throughout the summer for their pre-marital counseling, and it was so sweet to witness the culmination of all the planning and preparation! We could not be happier for them. Beautiful couple, inside and out.
May their marriage always be the beautiful picture of the gospel of Jesus Christ that their wedding was. Blessed to call them friends...
