Highlights from our first weeks in Wake Forest

Well, we're gradually getting settled in up here in Wake Forest.  Alot of things are very different than what we're used to, but it's a great place to live and we've enjoyed checking it out little by little.  I'll post pictures of our cozy little apartment as soon as I can find a place to put everything away :)  It's tough stuffing a house full of things into a 2 bedroom apt!  Gives new meaning to the word 'simplify'.

Visiting with the Lyons!
One of the things that was so exciting about moving up here was getting to live near our good friends Larry and Stephanie Lyon again!  We met in the Brasfield's Sunday School class at Hebron when Josh and I first started going there 6 years ago.  Larry was called to seminary a few years later and now we're here too!  They have both been extremely helpful to us over the past year as we prepared to move up here...answered many, many, many questions and have been so encouraging and faithful to pray diligently for our whole family.  What a blessing to already have wonderful friends in a new town...
Another great thing about the Lyon family is their girls are close in age to Kate and Carter.  Anna Kate is 3 1/2 and Abby is almost 1.  We went over to their house the other night.  The first of many playdates I'm sure!
Kate and Anna Kate hit it off immediately and were instant friends.  Could spell trouble though, considering within 30 minutes they had gotten a crayon and colored all over AK's room!  No wonder it was so quiet ;)
Carter and Abby played well together also.  And he's been saying 'Abby' ever since.  So sweet.
Here are the two princesses...Does it get any more precious than that?!

Getting Ready for the Weekend
Josh meets with some friends every Friday morning for breakfast at a little hole-in-the-wall place called the Border that is right up the street from us.  Their breakfast is delicious and very inexpensive...a great find and makes being far from the Buford Grill a little easier to handle.  He brought little man with him this week.  Check out the shirt that Clint and Jaime Buice had given him before we left GA.
Carter showing off those muscles!  Love the face :)
One of Kate's favorite things to do is hold Hudson.  She asks me first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and about 100 times in between..."Can I please hold baby Hudson?"  It is so sweet and has been like that from day one.  Here they are hugged up in Kate's bed.  Check out his cheeks!
Now that Hudson has gotten a little bigger and stronger, Carter is able to hold him some also.  Here's big brother with Hudson.  Carter has such a sweet nature and was so excited that it was finally his turn to hold the baby!

A Glimpse of Campus
Kate has been dying to ride her new bike but there is really nowhere for her to ride where we're living right now.  So Saturday morning we loaded everyone up and drove over to campus so the kids could ride and enjoy some wide open space to run.
Here's a shot of Binkley Chapel on campus.  It is gorgeous, the picture really doesn't do it justice.  They have chapel here twice a week with speakers from all over.  Josh has really been enjoying that so far!
The kids had a blast!  Kate jumped right up and peddled off...not bad for only her second time ever riding!  Carter needs about another inch before he can reach the pedals on his little trike.  But for now we are enjoying watching him Fred Flintstone around...especially hilarious when he's going fast trying to catch up to Kate.
There's Josh getting some good exercise.  Who needs a treadmill?
Hudson had a good time too, can you tell? :)
Worn out little kiddos taking a break.
After resting up for a few minutes, Carter decided the steps were more fun than riding.  What a fun outing...we'll be doing that a lot I'm sure!

Girl Time
Here's Kate with our neighbor Stephanie getting her toes done.  She had all kinds of fun little stick on flowers and rhinestones and things and had offered to paint Kate's toenails for her.  We went over there Saturday afternoon for a little girl time.

Doing life with the Robinsons
We are so very thankful to live right around the corner from George and Catherine Robinson, our dear friends from home.  George (Dr. Robinson) just started his first semester as a professor at SEBTS and it's extra fun because Josh is taking his missions class this semester!
We met them for dinner Saturday night at the local mexican restaurant downtown and then went back to their house for ice cream.  Here is Josh with all the kids (minus Hudson) doing horsey rides.  From left to right, Tori Beth, Carter, Kate, Aidan, Josh and Caleb.
Hudson didn't think he was missing out at all!  He was quite happy to sit with George and sleep.

The Boys
Here is Hudson in his seat.  Now that he can hold his head up so well, he can join us at the table for meals!  We're so glad because we felt bad before that he was always down on the floor in his bouncy seat and not really able to see anything.  This is much better.  And look how much he's grown!
Here's Carter after church yesterday on our front steps.  Had to get one last picture of him in that sweet little jon-jon.  Probably the last time for that outfit with fall fast approaching!

A Night Out

George had a speaking engagement last night and had asked Josh to come with him and lead worship.  Since they were going to be gone all evening, Cat and I loaded up all the kids and went out to Old Chicago to take advantage of the kids 99cent menu.  Here we are, completely outnumbered but with everything under control!  This was a huge first for me, taking all three of mine to a restaurant by myself.  It was a success!  Plus, we had the most delicious chocolate chip cookie thing for dessert...YUM!!
