Get up to speed with Team Reed

Well, we officially have a blog now!  Thanks to much coaching from my dear friend Stephanie Lyon, we are up and running!  Much later than we had planned, however, July and August have been two of the busiest months ever for us.  Here's a recap of all the things we had planned to have the blog up and running for...

It's a BOY!!
James Hudson Reed arrived July 1st, weighing in at 8lb. 9oz. and 21 1/4 in.  Healthy and whole, a huge answered prayer!!  Here are proud Mommy and Daddy with Dr. Freeman...
Here's a close-up of Hudson...
Kate and Carter stayed with Mimi while we were in the hospital.  Here they are meeting Hudson for the first time.
Kate had been wanting another baby since Carter was three months old.  She was so excited throughout my whole pregnancy with Hudson and it was love at first sight in the hospital.  Here is sweet big sister with her littlest brother...
What a cutie!

Carter's 1st Haircut
So, we'd been planning to get Carter's hair cut before we moved.  We took him to our friend  Sandi Brookshire so I could watch and learn to do it myself once we were in NC.  However, we couldn't bring ourselves to cut it really short, so it's more of a trim...Carter sat with Josh and played with the spray bottle to keep his hands occupied:)

Kate's 1st visit to the dentist
Here is Kate at her first dentist visit.  We went over to Athens to see our friend Michelle Harmon who is a pediatric dentist.
Michelle was so good with Kate and explained every step of what she was going to do before they started the cleaning and exam.
Here's Kate getting checked out.  She did so good!  We had no idea what to expect, but she was so brave and there were no tears or protests at all :)
Look Ma, no cavities!!  Kate loved it so much, she wanted to go back the next day!!  Thanks Michelle!

Kate turns 4!!
Wow, it's amazing how fast these past four years have flown by!  Our baby girl is all of a sudden so grown up!  Here she is with her bike that Mimi gave her...so excited!
Kate and three of her cousins have summer birthdays so we celebrate them together over at Nen and Pa's.  Here are Kate and Carter with Campbell (l) and Caden (r)...they were having such fun playing at that table together...
Being silly with Daddy...
Carter is ready to party...
Here are the cousins waiting for their huge cookie cake...more names on the cake=more icing!!  From left to right, Caden, Kate, Carter, Cullen, Will, and Campbell.

Kate's Birthday Party
We had a party for Kate at Jungle Jump down the street from our house.  So fun!  It was a great chance to see family and many dear friends before we moved, plus all the kids had a blast.  Kate had the most fun on the big slides...
They had a little jumpy for small kids.  Carter took one look at it and decided he was doing what the big kids were doing!  With a little help from Daddy that is...
Here's Kate with Campbell
And Kate with her sweet friends Grace Robinson and Claire McGuirt
One happy Birthday girl!!  Full of pizza, strawberry cake and vanilla ice cream...

Kate's actual birthday, August 7th
We started the day with a birthday breakfast at IHOP with Nen, Pa, Mema, and Pop.  Yum!  Kate enjoyed her smiley face pancake and was excited when the servers sang to her and brought her an ice cream sundae with a candle in it...she ate it even though it was 9am!
We did birthday dinner at Mimi's house.  Homemade vegetable soup per Kate's request and pink cake with pink icing...
Kate with Auntie Daria and Uncle Jimmy
Finally getting to open her present from Mommy and Daddy...They'd been wrapped and on our refrigerator for almost a month before her birthday.  An exercise in patience for sure:)
Carter was having a blast playing with this balloon

End of an era
The day after Kate's birthday, we said good-bye to Buford and moved up to Wake Forest, NC for Josh to start seminary.  It was a great six years and we're thankful for all the sweet memories we have from this house, our first home.  And excitedly anticipating all the Lord has for us as we enter this next chapter...

I am so impressed Mrs. Techno-Savy!! I love the blog and it makes me feel a little bit closer to you guys even though you are far away... The end pic of the house made me a little teary-eyed. There are so many memories in that house! Coming home from the hospital with Kate, then with Carter, then with Little Man Hudson... birthday parties... even our slumber party the night before I got married! Wow, how the years go by and time sure does fly. Know that we love you all very much and that you are in our thoughts and prayers every day!! All my love, Natalie
