Valentine's Day 2010

We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this year. Kate had a class party the Friday before and we all got to go in and party with them! I tried my hand at a heart-shaped cake this year...turned out good, and not too hard to do!

Kate adores her teacher, Mrs. Streit...We'll miss her next year when Kate goes to 1st grade! Just enjoying being with her now though...

Such a sweet group of kids. It's been a blessing to be part of this first class of kindergarteners at LLLC. They had registration a few weeks ago and have a full class of 15 lined up for next year, plus some on the waiting list! But this year's group of 4 are tight-knit and loving learning from Mrs. Streit. L. to R. Caden, Benjamin, Kayla and Kate

And, the best part of the party was our special guest Mimi!!! She came to spend the weekend with us. We haven't seen her since Christmas, so it was a sweet reunion :)

Hudson thought he was so big playing with all the kitchen stuff they have in their classroom. Look how serious he is about what he's doing.

And, speaking of thinking of being so big, Carter had the best time playing with Caden and Benjamin. Carter will be going to school here next year, two days a week in the three-year old class. He's already talking about being in school :)

Check out Hudson's ball-handling skills. Here he is working on his "no-look" pass. Josh says Hudson is going to be his "baller" :) Time will tell if he does wind up playing basketball, but for now he sure is one cool little kid. And don't miss the hat. He borrowed it from Carter and put it on himself, cocked to the side like that. He makes me laugh!

Speaking of a cool little kid, check out "Master Carter" fresh from the shower. He loves to wear his robe, and it makes us laugh every time.

Kate and Josh surprised me and Mom with homemade flowers on Valentine's! I loved Josh's creativity in coming up with this idea, and I know the time they spent together working on this craft was sweet. And one great thing about these flowers...they won't die!

Josh and I got to celebrate Valentine's Day with a date-night to Bonefish!! We had a great evening out, and the kids had lots of fun with Mimi :) Thanks Mom!!

Lunch is over, and Hudson has had enough fun. He's ready for his nap :)

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Can I just say that I think Josh is the BEST daddy in the whole world?! And if you look closely at Kate's face in this picture, you can see that she agrees with me. Last Saturday the local YMCA had a Daddy/Daughter Dance. We decided it would be super fun to surprise Kate with that for an extra-special daddy date. Here they are, all dressed up and ready to go out for a fun evening! Lookin' GOOD!!

Josh let Kate pick anywhere she wanted to go eat before the dance, and she chose for them to go have sushi at a great local place called Mizu...

Followed by hot chocolate at Starbucks...

Then it was time to go dance!! Josh said she was absolutely bustin' a move and having the BEST time! He tried to get some video, but it was too dark in there.

The Y really did a great job putting this on...they had cookies and punch for everyone, took their pictures and sent them home with a keepsake frame to put it in, and Kate got two tiaras to bring home. They had a blast :) So sweet.

However, later that evening, the stomach bug struck our family with a vengence and we've been out of commission for the last 5 days. We camped out and consumed more Gatorade and Saltines than I ever care to see again, plus sprayed Lysol like it was our job. Everyone is well now, praise God and ready to get back to normal. Had to throw in this picture of the kids playing the other day. It never ceases to amaze me how much fun they can have with a box. Who needs toys?!

January Recap

Funny story...I had the boys at TJ Maxx the other day and Carter really wanted this helmet that was on clearance. He wore it the entire time we were shopping, only taking it off for the cashier to scan it. He was so proud to show his daddy when we got back, but Josh was looking at it kind of funny. Turns out it is really a GIRLS helmet and has a hole in the back for a ponytail!! Carter doesn't know, and we're just letting him feel like a tough guy wearing it for now :)

My friend Jordan stopped by one day with her little girl Lily. She and Hudson are about a month apart. It cracked me up how they were checking each other out!

Celebrating "Mr. Justin"'s 30th birthday

Kate's school did an art show this week...here she is by all her work. It was neat to see some of what the kids have been working on :)

I'll admit I'm a skeptic when the forecast calls for snow, because so often it never does actually snow, but this time it did!! We woke up this morning to a good 6 inches on the ground :)

Carter was the first one ready!

First time Hudson has ever walked in snow! His balance was a little off at first, but he got the hang of it pretty quick.

Bailey absolutely LOVES playing in the snow. Can't tell from this picture but she has ice crusted up on her whiskers and snow all over her from digging and jumping and catching snowballs. So fun!
