Daddy/Daughter Dance

Can I just say that I think Josh is the BEST daddy in the whole world?! And if you look closely at Kate's face in this picture, you can see that she agrees with me. Last Saturday the local YMCA had a Daddy/Daughter Dance. We decided it would be super fun to surprise Kate with that for an extra-special daddy date. Here they are, all dressed up and ready to go out for a fun evening! Lookin' GOOD!!

Josh let Kate pick anywhere she wanted to go eat before the dance, and she chose for them to go have sushi at a great local place called Mizu...

Followed by hot chocolate at Starbucks...

Then it was time to go dance!! Josh said she was absolutely bustin' a move and having the BEST time! He tried to get some video, but it was too dark in there.

The Y really did a great job putting this on...they had cookies and punch for everyone, took their pictures and sent them home with a keepsake frame to put it in, and Kate got two tiaras to bring home. They had a blast :) So sweet.

However, later that evening, the stomach bug struck our family with a vengence and we've been out of commission for the last 5 days. We camped out and consumed more Gatorade and Saltines than I ever care to see again, plus sprayed Lysol like it was our job. Everyone is well now, praise God and ready to get back to normal. Had to throw in this picture of the kids playing the other day. It never ceases to amaze me how much fun they can have with a box. Who needs toys?!

January Recap

Funny story...I had the boys at TJ Maxx the other day and Carter really wanted this helmet that was on clearance. He wore it the entire time we were shopping, only taking it off for the cashier to scan it. He was so proud to show his daddy when we got back, but Josh was looking at it kind of funny. Turns out it is really a GIRLS helmet and has a hole in the back for a ponytail!! Carter doesn't know, and we're just letting him feel like a tough guy wearing it for now :)

My friend Jordan stopped by one day with her little girl Lily. She and Hudson are about a month apart. It cracked me up how they were checking each other out!

Celebrating "Mr. Justin"'s 30th birthday

Kate's school did an art show this week...here she is by all her work. It was neat to see some of what the kids have been working on :)

I'll admit I'm a skeptic when the forecast calls for snow, because so often it never does actually snow, but this time it did!! We woke up this morning to a good 6 inches on the ground :)

Carter was the first one ready!

First time Hudson has ever walked in snow! His balance was a little off at first, but he got the hang of it pretty quick.

Bailey absolutely LOVES playing in the snow. Can't tell from this picture but she has ice crusted up on her whiskers and snow all over her from digging and jumping and catching snowballs. So fun!

Christmas 2009

We were so blessed to be able to go back to GA for several days over Christmas to visit with family and friends!! We had a great time :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We've had a busy December, which is nothing out of the ordinary since December is always a busy month! Josh completed his third semester and we are all looking forward to having a few weeks off now!

Cutest Santa around :) He was in mid-snatching-off of the hat when I caught this picture...

Kate's pink Christmas tree, courtesy of Mimi :) She LOVES it and has had the most fun arranging and rearranging all her ornaments.

Kate's school put on a Christmas program and she got to be Mary! In the picture below she's in the blue on the left. But the real reason I picked this picture to post on here is because the kid on the far right makes me laugh. Not sure what's going on with him, but he's either really excited about singing, or mad about something :)

Kate's class has memorized Psalm 100 and recited it at the end of the Christmas program. From l. to r. her class is Benjamin (Joseph), Kate (Mary), Caden (donkey) and Kayla (star). Such a sweet group of kids!

Stephanie's mom was in town last week and had bought Anna Kate and Abby tickets to Disney on Ice. Abby was sick and couldn't go, so Anna Kate invited Kate to come with them. Kate had the best time!! Here's a fun shot Stephanie got mid-show of the girls with her mom...

And as soon as she set foot in the door from the show, the princess gear was out and on :)

Our sweet new friends Paul and Miranda invited us to come over for dinner one night with our friends the Henkels. After dinner, all the kids made gingerbread houses! So fun! Here they are, hard at work. Hudson was helping out too...by eating candy...maybe not helping exactly, but participating :)

Our 'new' Christmas tree. We got rid of our old tree because it was way too big for our house, and found this one on Craig's List! It's perfect...just what we needed for the space we have.

We are leaving to go down to Georgia a few days before Christmas and wanted to do our family Christmas before we left Wake Forest. Usually we give them new Christmas pajamas to wear Christmas morning, but changed it up a little and gave them to them a few days early to wear in the afternoon while we did our Christmas here.

Time for presents!!

Kate got her first Prince doll...to go with her new Snow White! She was happy, if you can't tell...And the funniest thing about it is Carter is convinced she got a Superman doll! He keeps asking her where her princess's Superman is.
