Gingerbread Houses

I think I take the library for granted.
I've kind of known in the back of my mind that I should probably be taking the kids there more over the years, but it always seems to get pushed down the to-do list.

This year has been different.  We've made progress and become a little more regular about going.  What's not to love?
My kids love books, and I've finally started taking them up there for story-time.
It says it's for preschoolers, but Mrs. Louise is so sweet she lets my older kids sit in on it.  Probably because they help keep my littles still and quiet ; )

They also do fun crafts every month for K-5 kids.
This month it was gingerbread houses.

Here's the crowd of kids and moms, receiving instruction from Mrs. Louise.
 Getting started.
I have to brag on my littles for a minute.  It's no short order to ask a 4 and 2 year old to sit by and quietly watch their older brother and sister have all kind of fun with icing and candy.  Hudson and Mollie both showed excellent self-control...watching without complaining or trying to grab or sneak any candy.  Definitely evidence of God's grace in their lives!!
And Brooks slept in his stroller the whole time : )
 Finished products!!

The kids brainstormed on the car ride home, and by the time we got home they had it all worked out who was going to share their house with whom.
And I didn't even have to mediate!?!
It was a joy to see fruit from years of training...not to say for even a second that it's always like this (it's NOT!) but these are sweet glimmers of encouragement to this mama's heart to press on and fight for my children's hearts.  They really are listening!
What a joy to see how God works in and through us,
even in the seemingly small daily things of life.
