We love every chance we get to go back to GA and this summer we got to have an extended visit which was an extra treat!
First on our agenda was a visit to see Pop, Josh's grandfather. He's been sick for a while now, and after breaking his hip earlier in the summer, had been in the hospital for a couple weeks. We were anxious to go and visit him, and glad we could participate in a gathering of the great-grandchildren to send a special message to lift his spirits!
*Apparently Mollie missed the memo that this was supposed to be a happy picture*
With a few extra days, we could really enjoy some play time...and soak up as much family time with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents as we could possibly hold!
And, of course...swim! Mollie checked out the action from a distance at first...
We had a big birthday celebration for all our summer birthdays!
We were grateful to have time to love on Mema, Josh's grandmother. It's not an easy thing to walk through a serious illness with your spouse. But we both were able to talk with her about Jesus and the hope for eternal life that is found in him alone through salvation. What a blessing to me and Josh to get to encourage her with truths from God's word!
And, then, a few days later,
we were a blessing to our arteries in Dawsonville at their local Varsity : )
Mollie met a 'PC' (chocolate milk) and they were instant friends!
Not sure she took a breath until it was gone...
We had a doozy of a storm while we were in the restaurant. And came home to their house to see this. I love the rainbow that comes after an intense summer thunderstorm...always a great reminder that our God is faithful and keeps His promises!!
We always leave wishing we had more time...
A perk to having an uncle who is a firefighter? A personal tour of the station!
Including all their water rescue equipment! Extra cool.
Thanks, Uncle Kenny!!
Packed down tight and headed home. We manage to fit it all in, every time!? And we even manage to have room for Bailey to ride with us. Boo-boo loves trips to GA almost as much as we do, because she gets to have a retreat to Mimi's house. We jokingly call it the 'spa' : )
Fun pit-stop at Clemson for a picnic lunch with a former NW buddy, Ronnie Morris. He's leading worship at a church in Clemson, and it's only a little over an hour to get there from Josh's parents house so it worked out well for us to meet and catch up over lunch.
Another wonderful trip.
We're so thankful for every facet of it, from start to finish. It's nice to be back in both our childhood homes for a while, and it is also sweet to come back to our home at the end of it.
Jim Elliot was a wise man...one of my favorite quotes is from him and says
"Wherever you are, be all there."
