While we were in GA this summer, we took a day trip over to Athens. Josh and I both love that city, and it's been way too long since we've been. We also wanted to show the kids where we went to college. AND we wanted to meet this little cutie-pie!
This is my friend Natalie's daughter, Kathryn. Isn't she a doll?
We had a great time catching up with Natalie and George and the kids enjoyed Cole and Kathryn.
And what a treat to be able to catch up over lunch in downtown Athens!
After lunch, we took the kids over to see some of the campus.
The famous Arch
Athens holds a lot of special memories for us. We started dating our sophomore year of college (I was here at UGA and Josh was at Auburn at the time) and logged quite a few miles driving back and forth to visit each other. We got to be up here together for one semester after Josh transferred before I graduated. Attended many football games, concerts, took great classes, ate at lots of really good restaurants, made lots of friends and had too much fun! But by far the reason I most love Athens is because that's where Josh asked me to marry him.
We ate at Bissett's the night we got engaged, an amazing New Orleans-style restaurant. Josh had specially requested a table with a view of N. Campus (we sat right by the 3rd arched window, that's now halfway behind that tree in the middle building in this picture).
This is the spot where Josh proposed in 2001. The kids were so excited and wanted to hear every detail. Sweet memories!
Ringing the chapel bell
Running on Herty field, where the GA Dawgs used to play football way back when.
Stopping for a minute to cool off in the fountain.
Repeat.
Couldn't miss showing them Sanford Stadium, where the Dawgs play now. Maybe someday we can bring them back for a game.
Hairy Dawg in the UGA Bookstore
After we finished walking around some of campus, we drove them around to see some of the places we used to live, including my sorority house.
Hit up an old GA favorite on our way out of town
It was too hot to get anything but a frosted orange! Good way to end a great day!
