Time to celebrate!
Kate and I finished our first year of homeschool,
AND Josh finished his first summer class, Hebrew I!!
(He had the weekend to enjoy that accomplishment, because Hebrew II picked right back up on Monday morning. But for this day, we were celebrating him being halfway done with Hebrew.)
It was all a team effort, and we wanted to be sure and rejoice together in all the Lord had done.
So we made a cookie cake to have for a mid-morning treat : )
(And yes, Mollie got to partake in the cookie,
but she missed the family shot due to her morning nap)
And then later that night, we got together with Blake, Justin, Rachel and Brandi to go to Sweet Spoons and celebrate some more, this time in community!
What a joy to be surrounded by so many people that we love so dearly.
Sweet Spoons is awesome. They have all these different flavors of frozen yogurt, and a ton of toppings to choose from. You go down the line and build your own concoction, they weigh it (which can be a little scary!), and then you get to dig in. Mmm.
In fact, she loved it so much that when mine was finished, she moved over to mooch off of Brandi's. Good thing Aunt Brandi loves her so much.
Notice Mollie's white-knuckle grip on the spoon. She's armed and ready to take it on.
I love the way she sets her mouth. She's focused!
Good stuff.
On a side note, you may notice in the pictures above that Hudson is either biting or picking his nails. He's been struggling with this habit for several months now, so to help him out we've been having him wear gloves.
It's definitely not his favorite thing, but we've been so encouraged to see how well he's responded to it. Plus, hearing him call them his"noves" is cute.
As in "I not need my noves. I not do it a-nehn."
Those big, blue eyes. Ahh. It's a wonder that I can ever stand my ground with him because inside I'm melting. Love this boy so. Three years into it, and we've already weathered so much. He's a strong-willed one for sure, but we're in this together.
And then this. Another sweet reminder of God's grace, waiting for me on the kitchen counter. This handmade note, with gobs of glitter glue in an array of colors,
communicating so much more than the three simple words on the page.
I don't have the words to articulate what this does to my heart.
In God's providence, Kate and I home-schooled last year.
Technically I was her teacher.
But God taught me so much
through our time,
through my sweet girl,
through the joy of utter dependence on
and surrender to Him.
And I am so grateful.
It was worth it all.
