Meet in the Street 2011

Every May, there is a festival in downtown Wake Forest called Meet in the Street. They close down the main street for the day, and local vendors set up booths. There are dancers from a local dance studio, live music, booths selling everything from jewelry to aprons to work by local artists. This year, our church set up a booth to take free family photos for people.

Kate wanted to get her face painted.
Finished product!
There are also lots of fun things for kids to do. The police department has a booth with free giveaways like sunglasses and whistles. There are jumpy houses, places where they can do crafts like make visors or doorhangers, and other fun activities.
Mollie had to take a break from all the fun : )
So did they. Gotta cool off with a sno-cone!
Back at it! Kicking the blow-up guy with a soccer ball to win a lollipop.
The boys were all about checking out the fire truck and meeting some of the local firemen.
The following week, I was reading the newspaper, and saw the write-up on Meet in the Street. Glancing over it, something caught my eye...recognize anyone on there?
Look a little closer...The boys made the paper!!
Josh and my mom made the paper too! If you look really closely in the picture of the crowd, they are both in green towards the back middle of the photo.
The funny part of this is that while this picture was taken, Kate and I were nearby looking at some jewelry, and when we came back to Josh and Mom I noticed that Hudson was about 10 feet away from them, pants down, peeing behind a bush. Oh.my.word. That boy.

Another thing I love about this...we live within walking distance of downtown.
Mimi and Kate heading home with some happy faces
and some Happy Mother's Day flowers from one of the booths.
Meet in the Street is one of my favorite things Wake Forest does.
Looking forward to next year!
