Back to school, again!

Labor Day
Every year I have mixed feelings when Labor Day rolls around...sad that summer is over, but excited about all that fall brings...plus the added bonus of a long weekend!  Our friends Page and Joey Craft invited us to come over and grill out yesterday.  They live in an apartment complex that has a really nice pool and the kids were so excited to be able to swim...Josh was excited about it too!

Not having to take turns was very exciting for Kate and Carter...Thanks for helping out Joey!

Page is a kindergarten teacher and Kate took to her immediately!  Page and Joey are expecting their first child in the spring...they'll be wonderful parents!

Kate's first day of preschool
Today, Kate became the second member of Team Reed to start school!  She is going to Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  She has really been looking forward to starting school.  Josh got her a treat to have for breakfast on her first day...mini powdered donuts, one of her faves!!

This year Kate will be eating lunch at school, so we had to make a big decision this morning on which lunchbox to take...

Ladybug won out over the princesses...can't say I saw that one coming!  Kate packed her entire lunch, including a pb&j sandwich that she made all by herself.  She eats that for lunch pretty much every day...a girl after my own heart!

We were so glad that Josh was able to come over with us for the first day.  Now that he's a student and not on the bank schedule anymore, he has a little more freedom to do things like this, which we are loving!!  Here they are getting ready to walk in to Kate's class.  She is in the Sharks class this year.

Here is Kate with one of her teachers, Mrs. Rebekah.

She went straight in and found her name.  The funniest part (that I didn't get a picture of, but should have!) was Carter going right in behind her and sitting down at the table to start doing whatever they were doing.  He thinks he's 4 too!

Here's Kate with her other teacher, Mrs. Claire.

Kate's friend Anna Kate Lyon goes to school here too and it was great fun seeing their whole family this morning.  Carter was especially excited to see Abby!

Here's Carter as we were leaving the school.  There were no tears, but he did seem a little lost without "Ih-E" (his version of "Sissy").

All in all, it was a great day!  Kate was still excited when we picked her up, which is always a good sign :)  Back to do it all again tomorrow...
